What: The Saluting Our Heroes Luncheon honors the men and women who have served our country, while building awareness of the needs of returning service members. The event highlights opportunities and resources available in Utah to assist veterans as they transition back to civilian life.
Why: Warriors and their families deserve high-quality, non-institutional environments where they can truly connect and heal. They need programs that support and challenge them to learn new skills, set higher goals, improve communication, and extend their reach beyond perceived limits. Since 1985, the National Ability Center has served thousands of veterans, active duty soldiers and their families. All funds raised at the Saluting Our Heroes luncheon directly support programs for military service members and their families at the National Ability Center.
Who (we serve):. For over 30 years, our continuing mission has been to provide programming that empowers participants of all abilities – including athletes, veterans, adults and children – to achieve more than they feel physically and emotionally capable of doing. Today, these programs serve 4,100 people of all abilities each year through 28,000 lessons and experiences within a wide variety of sports, recreation and educational activities. National Ability Center is recognized as a chapter of Disabled Sports USA and a US Paralympic Sports Club.
Who (attends): This luncheon is for current and veteran members of the armed forces, businesses and community partners who want to support the military community and anyone wanting to learn more about military programs in Utah and how they can support the military community and their families. Sebastian Junger will be hosting a book signing following the event and his new book Tribe will be available for sale.
